Gary Ryan
Gary’s passion and grace for climbing begun in his infancy. Born in Northern England to a climbing family, he grew up on the traditional crags of the UK and classic mountains of Western Europe. A now self proclaimed “Coloradan”, he has resided in the outdoor Mecca of Boulder Colorado for the past 25 yrs. He’s now happy to call Ridgway and the San Juan’s home in winter.
Gary’s lineage stretches from late 80’s World Cup rock competitor to X-Games Bronze medalist ice climber of 2000. “I’ve lived a climbers life… that’s an awful lot of experience, a ton of stories, and just as many hard learned lessons. As a climbing guide I’m fortunate, I get to share a wealth of fun times with like minded folks”. He’s a character, often requested…. and always fun to be out with.
Gary has completed the AMGA Rock Instructor, Rock Guide, and Ice Instructor courses. He is AIARE Level 2 and Wilderness First Responder (WFR).
